Cookies & Browser Storage
Effective from Webernaut’s public community launch. Adopted October 20, 2026; account-deletion clarification adopted October 21, 2026.
Webernaut uses some browser storage to make the site work and remember your choices. Optional Google Analytics is separate from the storage needed for features you request.
Essential and requested features
- Sign-in and security: Authentication cookies and related temporary storage help you sign in, remain signed in and protect your account.
- Recently Visited: Your browser remembers websites you've opened from Webernaut, up to 500 distinct items from the previous six months. You can remove entries or clear the list.
- Saved and Collection work: Browser storage helps preserve drafts, pending changes and account-related working data, particularly when a connection is interrupted.
- Preferences and navigation: Limited storage remembers certain controls, including your analytics choice and whether you've temporarily closed its notice.
Some of these technologies use cookies; others use localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB. If you clear your browser data, local history, preferences and work that hasn't synchronized may be lost. Closing or deleting an account is a separate action.
Optional analytics
With your permission, Google Analytics helps Webernaut understand public exploration and minimal outcomes such as a successful Save, Find submission, Collection publication or Share action. No private content or account identifiers accompany these outcomes. If you choose Continue without, or simply close the initial notice for now, optional analytics stays off.
If you allow analytics, Google may set cookies such as _ga and related _ga_* cookies. Webernaut configures those analytics cookies for up to 180 days without automatically extending their lifetime. You can turn analytics off later through Privacy Preferences in the footer. Withdrawing consent stops further optional measurement and removes analytics cookies that Webernaut can access; it can't recall information already sent.
After consent, bounded browser-local operation records help avoid counting retries twice and preserve broad source context. They expire within 30 days; account-action context expires within 30 minutes. These records are not sent to Google and do not create a separate visitor identity. Your Analytics choice is not consent to any future advertising tracking.
Remembering your choice
We remember your acceptance or refusal in this browser without routinely showing the notice again after a fixed number of days. If you clear storage or we materially change the analytics purpose, we may need to ask again. Where law requires a shorter valid period, that requirement controls.
Closing the notice with X postpones the decision rather than accepting or rejecting. Analytics stays off. The notice may return on a later visit after a quiet seven-day interval; it won't pop up again on every page you open.
You can always open Privacy Preferences from the footer. Your analytics decision isn't required to browse or use requested features.
Other services and external links
Authentication is provided through WorkOS. Hosting and security services may use normal technical request information and their own necessary service controls. Clicking an external website leaves Webernaut and is subject to that destination's own cookies and privacy policies.
