FAQ
A few quiet answers.
What is Webernaut?
+
Webernaut is a curated guide to interesting websites and web experiences — quiet escapes, playful interactions, strange corners, and perspective-shifting discoveries.
What's the difference between Wander and Explore?
+
Wander randomly guides you from one discovery to the next within a category. Explore lets you browse discoveries by pathway and choose your own starting point. Both lead to the same curated collection.
What do the categories mean?
+
Webernaut organizes discoveries by the feeling they create rather than the subject they cover. Quiet Escapes focuses on calm. Playful Interactions rewards curiosity. Strange Corners celebrates unusual web experiences. Perspective Shift highlights discoveries that inspire wonder, learning, or a new way of looking at the world.
What is "Places You've Been"?
+
"Places You've Been" appears automatically after you visit your first discovery. On desktop it appears in the sidebar. On mobile it appears lower on the page. It helps you find discoveries again later and is stored entirely in your browser.
Is "Places You've Been" private?
+
"Places You've Been" is stored locally in your browser. Webernaut does not know which discoveries you've visited, and your history does not leave your device.
Is Webernaut free?
+
Yes. Webernaut is free to use and does not require an account.
Are the sites chosen by an algorithm?
+
No. Every discovery is chosen intentionally. The goal is not to maximize clicks, but to offer a smaller collection of websites worth visiting.
Can I suggest a website?
+
Not yet, but submissions are something I'm considering for the future. For now, Webernaut remains a manually curated collection.
Why isn't there a search bar?
+
Webernaut was designed for discovery rather than lookup. If you already know exactly what you're looking for, a search engine will usually get you there faster.
